Now, on the 50th anniversary of the disaster, The Sinking of the Andrea Doria utilizes archival footage, survivor accounts, interviews with divers, exclusive underwater images of the decomposing ship and computer-generated imaging (CGI) to piece together exactly what happened that fateful night. The film reveals the truth about the decisions and actions - both correct and incorrect - of those in command on each ship, the limitations of the new technologies that were being used aboard the ships, and how insurance interests, publicity campaigns and politics all played a role in creating huge misconceptions about the collision and who was to blame.
