Many thought 9/11 marked a turning point in building big. But surprisingly, around the world, the race goes on to erect the world’s tallest building.  Following the architects and engineers who have dedicated their lives to reaching new heights, we’ll travel the globe to see these giants under construction, investigate the risks and benefits of building tall, and explore whether innovative materials and design techniques can overcome critical new safety issues. From blueprints for the site of the new World Trade Center to an audacious plan to construct a half-mile high building in Dubai, we’ll go behind the scenes to witness the passion, ego and energy it takes to get these projects off the ground. We’ll also visit the building sites, meet the engineers and construction workers and see the tools and technology that lift these massive structures from bedrock to soaring heights.
