Invasion of the Giant Pythons

Florida’s Everglades National Park is one of the last great wildlife refuges in the United States, home to numerous unique and endangered animals and plants, as well untold numbers of iconic alligators.  However, the park has also become a dumping ground for a variety of non-native species, including what may be as many as tens of thousands of Burmese pythons.  Some were intentionally released by pet owners no longer able to cope with their giant snakes, others were unintentionally set free when hurricanes hit Florida’s animal warehouses.  The predatory snakes have moved into their new home with a vengeance, thriving in the protected wilderness the park offers, disrupting its delicate ecosystem in the process.  Invasion of the Giant Pythons follows scientists and snake hunters as they study the problem and try to find solutions to the growing crisis.
