In November 1911, Captain Robert Falcon Scott and a British team began a 900-mile trek across Antarctica to reach the South Pole. They reached the Pole in January 1912, but a month behind Roald Amundsen's Norwegians. On the return trip, Scott and his four companions perished, and their legacy has been debated ever since. Meteorological data, diaries, and accounts by survivors re-create the sights, sounds, legends, and ferocious weather.
