Black Mamba

The black mamba is one of Africa’s most dangerous and feared snakes, known for being fast, furious, and deadly.  It can grow to 13 feet and is strong enough to raise a third of its body above the ground and look you in the eye.  Its bite is known as the kiss of death – without treatment, the mortality rate is 100 percent, the highest among all venomous snakes in the world. 
Snake bites in Africa are reaching epidemic proportions, and the traditional response is to kill them before they kill you, or, failing that, to rely on traditional medicine for a cure – always a hopeless option.  But in the tiny country of Swaziland in southern Africa, a team of volunteer snake handlers is trying to relieve the crisis by responding to emergency calls from locals, removing and relocating snakes they find, and making an effort to save both snake and human lives.
